Disabled Access Coach Hire

Wheelchair accessible transport can be broken down into three core sections; Coach Hire, Door to Door services and self drive rentals. Below is an outline of each of these three sections, you’ll find more information on the specific pages:

Coach hire

The majority of wheelchair accessible vehicles for groups are minibuses, however it is possible to find full size coaches that are fully accessible. These coaches are ideal for large groups containing members in wheelchairs. There is no standard capacity for accessible coaches for coach hire however as a general rule, every wheelchair is equivalent to two seats i.e. 42 seats with one wheelchair, 40 seats with two.

Door to Door

Most local authorities offer a door to door scheme for the disabled, often under the name ‘Dial a Ride’. These schemes differ from county to county in terms of cost and payment, some require membership but all offer the service to anyone who has a long term disability. Self Drive Rentals

If you are visiting the country or temporarily caring for a disabled person, there are a number of wheelchair accessible vehicles available for hire to make your life easier. These vehicles have ramps to allow for the passenger to be loaded safely and easily as well as clamps to lock the wheelchair in place.
